Hi. Just poking my nose in here long enough to share something funny and/or bizarre.
I got the following e-mail from Amazon.com today:
A Baby Registry gift will be arriving soon! We thought you might like to know that an item was recently purchased from your Amazon.com Baby Registry. If you can't wait to know what it is and who it's from, and want to send a thank-you note, visit your Thank-You List. All necessary details are available, including the gift-giver's address.
Congratulations and Best Wishes,
Your friends at Amazon.com's Baby Registry
Well, that's nice—except we don't have a baby registry. Furthermore, neither of us wants a baby and it's physically impossible for my wife to get pregnant.
Surely this is a bug. I'll have to check Technorati and see if anyone else has had this sprung on them.
At least it's not as scary as Dreamhost's recent billing error that dropped a message in my in-box saying that I was a year behind in my payments and I'd better pay up if I didn't want my service shut off. (Though the scare from that message evaporated when I realized that all of the "past due" items were for months in 2008 that were in the future.)
